One month after she announced that a sudden ‘medical situation’ was forcing her to cancel the first leg of her tour with James Taylor, Bonnie Raitt is proud to announce that she is “on the mend” and plotting her return to the road late in June.
A member of Raitt’s team took to Facebook a few short days ago to make the announcement, issuing a brief statement with a photo of a smiling Bonnie attached in which they thanked fans for their prayers and well wishes for a speedy recovery and revealed that Bonnie will be rejoining James Taylor and His All-Star Band on tour in St. Paul, MN on June 22nd.
In case you missed it the first time around, Raitt took to social media last month to announce that a ‘medical situation’ concerning something found in her annual physical was forcing her to cancel the first leg of her tour with James Taylor, citing a need to “schedule some surgery soon”.
She expressed her disappointment at not being able to perform; no further details regarding Ms. Raitt’s condition have been made available but according to her most recent Facebook update, ticket buyers who would like to request a refund to any of the shows affected by her absence are to do so at the original point of purchase.

“I’m deeply sorry to have to disappoint my fans, James and colleagues with these cancellations,” Raitt wrote. “I was so looking forward to our tour, but I’m very grateful that the doctors feel this can be taken care of with surgery. I’m feeling strong and am in great hands with my wonderful team. I fully expect to return for the second leg of the US tour in June followed by our European tour in July.
Thank you all for your concern and understanding that the best gift you could give me is respecting my wish for privacy and giving me space to heal. Can’t wait to see you all back on the road again soon!”
This is great news! Here’s hoping for a full, speedy recovery for Bonnie and an even quicker return back to where she belongs: the stage.
