Talinda Bennington Issues Poignant First Statement

It’s been one week since Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington took his own life and it seems as if we’ve heard from everyone who loved him; from bandmates and fans to longtime friends, the outpouring of grief and love in Chester’s honor has been non-stop.

We just wish he were here to see it.

Today, the one person everyone’s been waiting to hear from – the lovely Mrs. Talinda Bennington, Chester’s wife of 12 years – since this nightmare began issued a poignant statement on her husband’s passing, reflecting on the love that drove their family. Her first since the tragedy, Talinda turned to Rolling Stone for her statement; one that found her asking the most heartbreaking question of them all.

“One week ago today, I lost my soulmate and my children lost their hero – their Daddy. We had a fairytale life and now it has turned into some sick Shakespearean tragedy. How do I move on? How do I pick up my shattered soul? The only answer I know is to raise our babies with every ounce of love I have left.

I want to let my community and the fans worldwide know that we feel your love. We feel your loss as well. My babies are so young to have lost their daddy. And I know that all of you will help keep his memory alive. He was a bright, loving soul with an angels voice. And now he is pain free singing his songs in all of our hearts. May God Bless us all and help us turn to one another when we are in pain. Chester would’ve wanted us to do so.

Rest In Peace, my love.

Always, Mrs. Talinda Bennington”

The pair began dating in late 2004 after being introduced by a mutual friend, moving in together within 10 days of the beginning of their relationship; they later married in 2005, adding to the family with the birth of children Tyler Lee, 11, and twin daughters Lila and Lily, six.

This gets harder day by day. Our hearts go out to the Bennington family as they begin to pick up the pieces of their fairytale, and we wish them all we’ve ever wanted for them: peace.

You rock. Each and every one of you, and you matter. If you or someone you know is struggling to make it to the next sunrise, you’re not alone. Please, please, please reach out and get help – it can, does, and will get better.
