“Don’t Forget Us. Our Name Is Motörhead!”

Lemmy Kilmister was 70 years old and performed like he was 25, night after night – if that isn’t a testament to Motörhead’s dedication to their craft, I don’t know what is! This live performance of the guys performing ‘Ace Of Spades’ is undeniably one of their best, and fancy editing effects aside, this is one that pretty much drives home the fact that after all these years, Motörhead was still the best at what they did.

‘Ace Of Spades’ is considered to be the definitive Motörhead anthem, and “put a choke on the English music charts and proved to all that a band could succeed without sacrificing its blunt power and speed”.

While the bass and guitar solos at 1:42 are amazing, I think my favorite part is the end of the song; Lemmy thanks the crowd graciously and then introduces his entire band by name, even saying that he has the best drummer in the world. Motörhead absolutely killed it whenever they stepped onstage, but at the end of the day, they were great friends and it was always about the music. There’s nothing more metal than doing what you love with people you love!
