Ford Releases Single From Upcoming She Rocks, Vol. 1 Compilation

In 1975, former Runaway Lita Ford was asked by Robert Plant to join Led Zeppelin. She turned it down, obviously, but more than 40 years later her love for the English rockers still abides as evidenced by her collaboration with Led Zeppelin cover band, Lez Zeppelin, on a restless cover of “The Lemon Song”.

Slated for release as part of an upcoming compilation featuring 11 female guitarists called She Rocks, Vol. 1, Lita’s cover of “The Lemon Song” is right at home among the eleven hard rocking tracks showcasing some of the best the guitar world has to offer and her special guests Lez Zeppelin are pretty damn good, too! Even better, this cover of “The Lemon Song” gives Lita a chance to add a little something special that the original was missing – a guitar solo.

Fun Fact: “The Lemon Song” was inspired by Howlin’ Wolf’s “Killing Floor”, which was a song Led Zeppelin briefly incorporated into their live setlist during their first concert tour of the United States.

As she gears up to be honored tonight at the She Rocks Awards’ fifth annual show, it’s a wonderful thing to hear Lita go back to her roots for a fun, faithful cover of a serious Led Zeppelin classic. Enjoy, and congratulations to Lita Ford on her She Rocks Award!
