Fox God Meets Metal God In APMA’s Performance
You may be cool, but you’ll never be “Rob Halford jamming ‘Painkiller’ and ‘Breaking The Law’ with BABYMETAL” cool. Last night saw the Judas Priest frontman hit the stage at the Alternative Press Music Awards with Japanese idol band BABYMETAL for a high energy performance of Judas Priest’s “Painkiller” and “Breaking The Law” and clad in a black and red leather jacket that matched the outfits worn by BABYMETAL’s Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal, Halford got to play the role of both fan and mentor of these impossibly fun young ladies.
One of the most respected figures in the heavy metal pantheon, Halford had zero qualms about joining BABYMETAL onstage – in fact, it’s pretty safe to say that he had even more fun than they did, revealing in a statement following the performance, “That was really intense: Babymetal give a thousand percent just like Priest,” and celebrating them for “leading the charge into the new frontier of heavy metal.”
