Jimi Hendrix Plays “Purple Haze” Live

Jimi Hendrix Plays “Purple Haze” Live | Society Of Rock Videos

“Purple Haze” was written by Jimi Hendrix and produced by Chas Chandler. It was released on March 17, 1967 in the United Kingdom under Track Records. Hendrix often described this psychedelic rock as a love song and it became a massive hit. He has drawn his main inspiration from a dream where he was surrounded and engulfed by a purple haze.

This has become one of Jimi Hendrix’s signature songs — he frequently performed it during his concerts and was constantly included in his compilation albums. It topped Q Magazine’s Greatest Guitar Songs and ranked 2nd in Rolling Stone’s list. It stayed for 8 weeks in the US Billboard Hot 100 and 14 weeks in the UK Official Singles Chart.

Even up to this day, several musicians created their own covers for this timeless piece.
