An Exclusive Look Into Janis Joplin’s Life!

It seems like the bigger the voice and talent, the more humble and soft spoken they are. Janis Joplin was no different! When she wasn’t belting out classics like ‘Crybaby’, ‘Little Girl Blue’, and ‘Maybe’, she was gracious enough to sit down and chat for a few minutes with anyone who asked.
This interview takes place about a year before her tragic death, and it gives us a great glimpse into who Janis was offstage.
She talks about the first album she bought – “something by Leadbelly, I don’t remember exactly which one it was though”, how she started singing – “I just started singing one day. It was like a surprise, I didn’t know I could sing”, and her decision to leave her sleepy hometown of Port Arthur, Texas for the shores of California – “You can do what you want in San Francisco, and nobody bugs ya.”
