“A Woman Left Lonely” is a track written by Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham. It was included in Janis Joplin’s second solo studio album called “Pearl.” The songs were recorded from September 5 to October 3, 1970 and released on January 11, 1971. She recorded with the Full Tilt Boogie Band and this album even ranked number 1 for nine weeks in the Billboard 200.

Some critics claimed that unlike her other tracks, this one sounds more polished. With her characteristic extraordinary vocals, she perfected this rock blues. This album was given five stars by AllMusic, “favorable” by the Rolling Stone and four stars by the Rolling Stone Album Guide.
