Last year, Metallica released their tenth studio album titled Hardwired….to Self-Destruct. The successful album topped the charts and sprung a worldwide tour that is currently in progress. Metallica fans are claiming that this is the band’s best work in years.
However since the album’s release, there have been tons of rumors and discussions on who in the band contributed the most to the album. A few months ago, guitarist Kirk Hammett revealed that he feels he didn’t contribute as much as he would’ve liked. Hammett claims that he had a ton of riffs and ideas on his phone, but, he lost the phone before production took place.
Now, frontman James Hetfield is calling out Hammett, saying that the excuse of losing his phone for his lack of participation on the album is farfetched, and makes no sense.
“That’s what he claims (losing his phone). I’m sure he did, but it doesn’t make sense that he wouldn’t have them on his computer, either. But, whatever… Yeah, Kirk had some riffs that he… I guess submitted – it’s not a very nice word to be used if you’re in a band. But you know, we all submit our tapes, and we sit there and we listen to them and we pick the best stuff. There was not much stuff from Kirk. Whether his phone was lost, or whatever…“- James said.
It sounds like James doesn’t believe Kirk. Hopefully this doesn’t spring some crazy drama between the band. That’s the last thing they need on their world tour.
