Puddles Pity Party / YouTube
Puddles the Clown is taking the world by storm, amassing millions of fans all over the world after a brilliant run on America’s Got Talent and a series of YouTube videos featuring the 7 foot clown performing acoustic covers from the comfort of local coffee shops. Nowhere near finished in his quest to make the world smile, Puddles offered up a brand new video yesterday – this time featuring the help of musician and multi-instrumentalist Casey Abrams, who accompanies him on a cover of The Beatles’ acoustic masterpiece “Yesterday” that can only be described as absolutely heartbreaking.
Who Is Puddles?
“I like posting videos of music and sad and funny things. The world is a sad and beautiful place and it’s OK to feel sad sometimes. Keep weepin’ and keep the party going. It feels good. Let me know how you feel. We’re in this together.”
Shot in a warm, cozy living room as opposed to his usual coffee shop haunts, Puddles’ cover of “Yesterday” proves to be every bit the emotional experience we hoped it would be, Puddles taking the lead for the first verse before ceding control to Casey whose double bass playing adds an element of sadness and texture that wasn’t there before. When their voices meet in the middle for the chorus, “Yesterday” becomes the perfect game of push and pull as their harmonies come together for a final product that never ceases to put a catch in the throat and a finger on the “replay” button.
