Allman’s Legacy Takes Center Stage At CMT Awards
As the music world mourns the passing of Gregg Allman, tears turned to joy tonight as stars lined up for an all star tribute to the late Southern rock pioneer during the CMT Music Awards, teaming up to celebrate the monumental impact Allman and, by extension, The Allman Brothers Band had on the country music world.
A highly anticipated affair that saw Tedeschi Trucks Band leader and former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Derek Trucks take the stage with country megastars Jason Aldean, Darius Rucker and Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley, the tribute continued Allman’s lifelong legacy of flawlessly and beautifully blurring the line between rock and country music with Trucks’ signature slide guitar playing coloring Allman Brothers Band classic “Midnight Rider” and the vocal talents of Aldean, Rucker, and Kelley highlighting the oft-lauded country roots that gave it life.
Fearless and full of the passionate spirit of adventure that kept leading Gregg Allman down new and brilliant paths and trailblazing through different genres, this all star cast of characters embodied the spirit of his legacy and represented it quite proudly on the CMT Awards stage tonight for a performance Gregg would have loved. Check it out in the video below and as always, enjoy!
