Grateful Dead – “It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” Live
Look Out!
“It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue” was written by Bob Dylan and featured on his fifth studio album “Bringing It All Back Home.” It was released on March 22, 1965 under Columbia Records. It was a huge mystery back then about the real identity of the “Baby Blue” referred in the lyrics. There were even speculations that it might be Bob Dylan himself.
The song was originally recorded on January 15, 1965 with Dylan’s acoustic guitar and harmonica and William E. Lee’s bass guitar the only instrumentation. The lyrics were heavily influenced by Symbolist poetry and bid farewell to the titular “Baby Blue.”
There have been numerous music artists who covered this track including The Grateful Dead. As always, the boys did a stellar job! Somehow, they always manage to record a cover tune, add their own flavor and eventually make it their own. It’s always an unforgettable performance. Every element in the song always come together and it’s basically what makes their live shows epic!
