George Harrison – ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ (Acoustic)

Of all of The Beatles, I think George Harrison was both my favorite and the most underrated member of the band. The brooding tall, dark, and handsome Beatle, we didn’t find out until The White Album exactly how talented a writer George actually was.

We have George to thank for ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’, the lyrically gorgeous tune set to a melancholy melody, and it was worth his eternal struggle to get John Lennon and Paul McCartney to include his songs on albums, too.

Eric Clapton played guitar on the studio version of ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’! George had to convince Eric to come and record with The Beatles, and it was ultimately Eric’s involvement that encouraged John and Paul to include the song onto the album.

After The Beatles broke up, George recorded ‘While My Guitar Gently Weeps’ as a gentle, soulful acoustic rendition that makes us wonder exactly why he didn’t get more recognition for his role in The Beatles!
