Master Of…Banjos?

The coolest part about music isn’t what’s already been done with it, but what it has the potential to be with the right amount of imagination and a few interesting tools at your disposal. In this regard, YouTuber and guitar guru Rob Scallon succeeded in spades when he and a friend turned Metallica’s “Master Of Puppets” from the iconic, thundering thrash metal we’ve heard a thousand variations on into a plucky, banjo driven tune that is not only really entertaining, but actually really, really hilarious.

Fun Fact: The laughter at the end of “Master Of Puppets” is actually the band themselves chuckling, with an added echo effect.

In the video for his take on “Master Of Puppets,” Scallon appears with his upright bass player, shirtless and in overalls; shot between Scallon’s home studio and a set painted to look like something out of Deliverance, there’s no shortage of hilarity as Rob and his accompanist pair great musicianship with a healthy dose of comedy (our favorite part comes at around 3:19!) for a fun take on a thrash metal classic.

It’s definitely the coolest, if not funniest, thing you’ll see all day – be sure to check it out in the footage below!
