Dave Grohl Talks About Kurt Cobain

Dave Grohl Talks About Kurt Cobain | Society Of Rock Videos

“It Was Time To Keep Moving, You Know?”

How do you recover from the death of your best friend and bandmate, and furthermore, how do you move forward? Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters and formerly of Nirvana was met with that challenge following the suicide of Kurt Cobain in 1994 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

These days, the Foo Fighters are one of the biggest bands on the planet and Dave Grohl is pretty much the coolest rockstar to walk the earth, but there was a time when he wasn’t sure he even should continue with music regardless of whether he wanted to or not.

Dave’s Journey Forward

Following the death of Kurt, Dave explains the beginning of his journey with the Foo Fighters: “It was just time to keep playing. I’d been in bands a long time and there were times I wanted to not play anymore or even listen to music because it all reminded me of the death of a good friend of mine.”

We’re so very, very glad that Dave found his way through the darkness and to the other side – somehow, we think Kurt would be beyond proud of Dave’s success and talent!
