Feelin’ Free On The Dance Floor

Cream’s second single, “I Feel Free” marked a signature moment for the band, following the release of “Wrapping Paper,” the band’s first ever single. Performing the single on a TV program in ’66, the members shine in their individual parts in the group; especially lead singer Ginger Baker.

Interesting Fact: One of the names they considered was “Sweet and Sour Rock and Roll.” Clapton insisted they be called Cream because they were the best.

Written by Poet Pete Brown, also writer of “Sunshine Of Your Love” and “White Room,” the greatest Cream songs of all time, the lyrics not only make us want to dance, but tell the story of a man that simply wants to dance with a woman; to feel free with her on the dance floor.

Performing with a Fender Bass VI, which apparently drove Baker nuts, the band delivers an iconic, live version of this insanely catchy song in black and white. Although the group only last for two and a half years, the world’s original rock supergroup consisting of Clapton, Bruce and Baker vastly marked their talent and musical expression on the world in this short time.

I feel free

Feel when I dance with you,
We move like the sea.
You, you’re all I want to know.

I feel free.
I feel free.
I feel free.

I can walk down the street, there’s no one there
Though the pavements are one huge crowd.
I can drive down the road; my eyes don’t see,
Though my mind wants to cry out loud.

I, I, I, I feel free.
I feel free.
I feel free.

I can walk down the street, there’s no one there
Though the pavements are one huge crowd.
I can drive down the road; my eyes don’t see,
Though my mind wants to cry out loud,
Though my mind wants to cry out loud.

Dance floor is like the sea,
Ceiling is the sky.
You’re the sun and as you shine on me,

I feel free.
I feel free.
I feel free.

I, I, I, I
