Official Cause Of Death Arrives Nearly A Month After His Death

Nearly a month after the death of Motörhead frontman Lemmy Kilmister, TMZ reports the official cause of death for the “Ace Of Spades” singer as being prostate cancer, cardiac arrhythmia and congestive heart failure.

Kilmister, a legend in the rock world for his time as Jimi Hendrix’s roadie and later, bass player for both Hawkwind and Motörhead, died just two days after being diagnosed with what was initially reported as an “aggressive form of cancer” after a brain scan found tumors in his brain and neck.

Following Motörhead’s birth in London in 1975, Lemmy functioned as Motörhead’s lead singer, songwriter, and bass player for over 40 years, remaining the band’s sole constant member.

His death at the age of 70 dealt a crushing blow to the rock world, with surviving bandmates Mikkey Dee and Phil Campbell officially declaring the end of Motörhead, telling Sweden’s Expressen magazine, “Motörhead is over, of course. Lemmy was Motörhead. But the band will live on in the memories of many.”
