This Cover Sounds Like Home!

Catch a musician at a quiet moment and you’re bound to stumble across something beautiful. A quiet moment in the studio found Evan Taylor, bassist for Washington based band Night Argent bathed in candlelight and cradling an acoustic 6-string guitar instead of his usual 4-string electric bass and picking away quietly at a cover of ‘Over the Rainbow’ that gave us a serious case of the warm and fuzzies.

Fun Fact: In a list by the Recording Industry Association of America and the National Endowment for the Arts, this track is #1 on the “Songs of the Century.”

Delicate, warm, and absolutely beautiful, Evan’s cover of this 1939 classic is a gorgeous takeoff of the arrangement crafted by master guitarist Tommy Emmanuel and for just over two minutes, we’re treated to an interpretation of Tommy’s arrangement that proves to be every bit as comforting as your favorite childhood memory and every bit as technically skilled as any music lover could hope for. Check it out in the video below and as always, enjoy!
