Aerosmith Takes On Censorship!

Leave it to Aerosmith to make a statement with their music, especially if it involves censorship! 2001’s Just Push Play was Aerosmith’s attempt at bringing their music into the 21st century and to a brand new generation of fans, and the title single ‘Just Push Play’ shows Aerosmith’s determination to constantly stay relevant with an edgier feel and controversial topics.

‘Just Push Play’ was released as a promotional single from Just Push Play in 2001, and peaked at #10 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart and #38 on the Top 40 Mainstream chart.

What I love most is the irony of censoring a song protesting censorship so that it would be radio-friendly! Steven Tyler is fiercely intelligent and a great songwriter, and I have no doubt that the irony of the situation amused him to no end. Gotta love our Steven!
