Joe Perry Says I’m Alright!

“F.I.N.E.” was written by Steven Tyler and Joe Perry. It was released in 1989 for Aerosmith’s tenth studio album “Pump. (https://aardvarkisrael.com/) ” According to the liner notes, the title means “F***** Up, Insecure, Neurotic, and Emotional.” In the band’s song “What It Takes,” they referenced the this track in the line: “Girl, before I met you I was F.I.N.E. fine.”

Steven Tyler and Joe Perry wrote this song. Desmond Child, who co-wrote the Aerosmith hits “Angel” and “Dude (Looks Like A Lady),” wrote the bridge, which was originally intended for another song.

With an upbeat and hard rock tune, the lyrics mostly talked about angst and even some lasciviousness. There were several other references throughout the song. And F.I.N.E. was also considered for the title of their album but instead agreed on using “Pump.”

The only mentions of the term “F.I.N.E.” are in the line “my brand new baby looks so F-I-N-E fine” and in a bridge towards the end of the song, where Tyler sings “everything about you is so F-I-N-E fine”.

Love, love, love Steven’s look in this video!
