Aerosmith – “Crazy” Live
Was This Liv Tyler’s Big Break?
21 years ago, Aerosmith released the official music video for “Crazy” which, in a way, launched the career of Steven Tyler’s daughter Liv. She starred in the video along with the then-“It” girl Alicia Silverstone. When it debuted, it became one of MTV’s most requested videos but the funny thing was, the director hired Liv after seeing her in a shampoo commercial. At that time, he had no idea about Liv’s connection to Steven.
“I remember I was in high school when I made it,” Liv Tyler recalled, “and I would wake up in the morning for school, put on the MTV countdown. And when the video would come on I’d get so embarrassed, that’s when I would get in the shower, I remember that. Wow, that’s a long time ago.”
But it’s not just the video that’s memorable. In fact, it was a chart-topper when it was released as a single on May 3, 1994.
- Number 3 in the Canadian Charts
- Number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100
- Number 7 on the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart
- Won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal
- The video ranked at number 23 in VH1’s Top 100 Music Videos of All Time
Though the song is basically about a guy missing his girlfriend who just packed her stuff and left, the video became popular because it was quite provocative and risque. Whatever it is, Aerosmith sure made a mark with this track!
