Steven Tyler has to be one of the greatest male rock singers of all time. We always hear him screaming, growling, and grunting with a loud-thrashing (always amazing) band backing him up. It’s quite a change to hear him sing- what sounds like a cappella.
“I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” is a power ballad Aerosmith sang for the 1998 film Armageddon. Written by Diane Warren, the song debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 (the first #1 for the band after 28 years together). It is one of three songs performed by the band for the film, the other two being “What Kind of Love Are You On” and “Sweet Emotion.”
The song stayed at number one for four weeks and has sold over a million copies!
The movie was great, the song was fabulous, and Tyler always delivers an A+ performance. What’s not to love?

- Diane Warren wrote this song, which is about treasuring every moment spent with another person. Some other hit songs Warren wrote include “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” by Starship, and “If I Could Turn Back Time” by Cher.
- This song extended Aerosmith’s reign as the hottest rock band of the ’90s. Their 1993 album Get a Grip contained four hit singles
